People in South Holland, Bourne and the Deepings have a chance to say what projects deserve a cash injection to improve their communities.

A public event is taking place at West Pinchbeck Village Hall, Six House Bank, today between 10am and 12 noon where people can find out about the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

Lincolnshire County Council is preparing a bid for funding to last between 2015 and 2020 for farming, forestry, tourism and rural services, with four applications to be put forward in the county.

Frances McIntyre, manager of the Wash Fens Local Action Group, said: “We are consulting with businesses and the public on our plans to attract European funds so we can make sure the plans fit the needs of rural communities in South Holland, Bourne and the Deepings.

“This funding has the potential to further strengthen our key industries of food and farming, as well as building on the potential of many small businesses.”
