Fresh food producer wins industry Oscar

A firm producing flowers and vegetables in Holbeach and Long Sutton can now boast of being the best of its kind in the UK.

Nationwide Produce was named Fresh Wholesale Supplier of the Year 2014 at an awards dinner in London hosted by Northern Ireland-born comedian Patrick Kielty.

The awwards are run annually by the Fresh Produce Consortium (FPC) and are seen as the Oscars of the fresh produce and cut flowers industry.

Tim O’Malley, managing director of Nationwide Produce, said: “We are delighted with this award because we started in business back in 1975 supplying wholesale markets alone.

“Nationwide Produce has grown considerably since then and expanded into many other sectors of the market.

“But we have never turned our back on whosesale which has always been, and always will be, an integral part of our business.

“This award means a lot to us and we would like to thank the FPC for awarding it to us.”

Nigel Jenney, chief executive of the FPC, said: “Nationwide Produce is a well-deserved winner, with recognised international growth and strong brands.”
