SPALDING’S Focus store will close its doors for the final time next Friday.
A sign in the Winfrey Avenue shop says its final trading day will be July 15 and asks customers to be considerate of the feelings of staff, as all 16 of them will be made redundant as a result of the closure.
It was announced at the end of May that the town’s store was one of the 31 across the country which the Kingfisher group, owner of the B&Q chain, had agreed to buy for £23million.
At the time of the announcement the firm said that the final number of stores it took over was subject to clearance from regulatory authorities and negotiations with landlords, but said it did hope the necessary arrangements would be in place in time to re-employ Focus staff.
It is not clear if that will now happen.
