300 reports about village’s loss of communications services

UPDATE – Thursday, 3.45pm: BT has received around 300 reports about loss of services in Moulton.

And residents and businesses have been warned that it could be “a few days” before all services are back up and running.

A BT spokesman said: “We have suffered malicious cuts to underground cabling which is affecting services in the area at the moment. The cable was not stolen in this instance.

“Engineers are on site and have assessed the scene and will be working around the clock to repair the damage and bring in some new cabling and connect those affected back into service.

“It is likely to be a few days until all services have been restored, but we are be doing all we can to get all this work completed as quickly as possible.”

He added: “We currently have around 300 reported faults from residents affected in the area.”

Thursday, 10am: An entire village is without landline use or broadband due to an attempted theft.

Moulton is suffering after a botched bid to steal BT copper cabling, which was cut during the process.

Work on the A151 – being carried out with traffic control – is connected with the necessary repairs.
