Word on the Ground: Another successful year for NFU’s South Holland branch

Steve

I have never understood the reasoning behind commencing the NFU subscription year on November 1 annually, but at least it does provide me with this opportunity of reflecting on another highly successful year for South Holland Branch with subscriptions collected of £132,685, enabling us to maintain our number one spot in the whole of the NFU East Midlands Region.

We have also maintained our membership levels and our sincere thanks go to all of our NFU Farmer and Grower members for their support, together with a plea to help us by encouraging any non-NFU members to contribute financially to the work of the NFU, much of which benefits all farmers and growers.

Our branch annual general meeting takes place on Monday, December 3, at 6.30pm at Whaplode Manor, and we are again teaming up with South Holland Growers Club in organising a joint seminar on farm security with NFU Mutual’s Clive Harris expected to provide valuable advice on ways to protect your property.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

We also hope that this will be an opportunity to meet with Andrew Wilson, the newly appointed county advisor for the whole of Lincolnshire.

Many of you will remember the former county secretary structure and in many ways this does seem to be a return to more local contact with branch members, driven by the need to improve communications at grass roots level.
