Success after flower parade is ‘to say it with a smile’
Spalding could become the friendliest place to shop and do business – thanks to a course promoting the importance of customer service.
Businesses are being offered help to give a customer service experience visitors will never forget and leave them crying out for more.
A Customer Service Forum is being run by Boston College next month at Sage in the Red Lion Quarter.
It follows comments from Spalding Chamber of Commerce, who felt the college needed to provide more courses directly aimed to help the town.
As well as focusing on customer service, local businesses are being given a unique opportunity to explore strengths and weaknesses and identify the opportunities available to help them develop and grow.
Phil Scarlett, president of Spalding Chamber, said: “I’m delighted the college has been able to deliver a course directly aimed to help our local businesses and help staff understand the importance of good customer service.
“It’s especially well-timed as this year it is the town’s last flower parade and it well help it go out with a bang.
“We are trading in difficult times and the customer is king. Good service is so important.
“Hopefully as many businesses as possible will take up this opportunity and send more than one member of staff. One person alone might not be able to make a difference but a team could.”
Customers travel from miles around to buy from Robert Goddard clothing in Vine Street. Manager Steve Shephard said: “Custom can be lost in a heartbeat. If the high street is to survive there has got to be a good reason for people to come to you.”
The forum is on Wednesday, February 13. To register, call Summer Hills on 01205 313242 or e-mail email@example.com
