Open all hours and ‘lovin’ it’
Staff at McDonald’s in Long Sutton are “lovin’ it” now their jobs are secured with the continuation of 24-hour opening.
The fast food restaurant off the A17 roundabout in Vicarage Lane has been opening its drive-thru throughout the night on Friday to Sunday for the past year.
Franchisee Richard Hyde told South Holland District Council’s planning committee: “The UK is fast becoming a 24-hour society.
“We have been able to provide additional jobs for local people by opening 24 hours and well as somewhere to buy food for people working shifts, such as the fire service, police and factory workers.”
Ward councillor David Wilkinson had expressed concerns about noise from vehicles racing around the car park disturbing residents at the weekend and an increase in litter.
A resident had also objected on the grounds of loud music being played by the side of the restaurant.
Coun Chris Brewis said people threw rubbish out of the window without thinking these days.
He said: “A lot of the time they are walking through their own filth without knowing it.”
Coun Roger Gambba-Jones pointed out there had been no complaints made to the council about noise or litter.
He said: “Mr Hyde has shown willingness to work with us on any concerns.”
Mr Hyde said: “I’m lovin’ it that we are able to maintain 24-hour business and we will remain vigilant in asking customers to respect our neighbours.”
