Good Taste Award - Readers decided finalists
The Chequers at Weston won the Good Taste award after an avalanche of reader voting.
More than 2,000 votes were cast by Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian readers in the only award in which the public decided who went throught to the final, showing their faith in their favourite eating places across South Holland.
Rob Gibson, co-owner of The Chequers with Jo Wiseman, said: "It is fantastic news.
"We were glad to be in the top three and to win is something more than we imagined."
The business, which can trace its roots back to the early 1800s, has only been open for six months following a refurbishment and re-opened under its new name following a number of years as The Carter's Arms.
It now features a 60-seat restaurant, a bar, beer garden, outside eating area with a large child-friendly garden and car park.
Mr Gibson said their success is based on providing a total experience for the diner and the talents of head chef Steph Cooke.
He said: "We are trying to do our best and give people what they want.
"Quality of the food is the main thing, but if it is not served correctly then you lose the effect before you start eating.
"We try to get everything right."
The finalists were judged by John Norman, from Caterwell.
