South Holland environmental officers are looking for flytippers who dumped a pile of building materials in Weston Hills on Thursday.

The rubbish was left in Fengate Drove, between Poplar Farm and Weston Hills Primary School, sometime between 6pm and 8.30pm after which police had to cordon off the road.

It was left to workmen from South Holland District Council to clear away the rubbish which included bags of gravel, concrete and a wheelbarrow.

Weston district councillor Anthony Casson said: “We would like to appeal for anyone who witnessed this incident or has information about it to get in touch with us.”

The council has warned people that it will to take firm action against flytippers if they are caught and in January, a 40-year-old council worker from Weston Hills was sacked after dumping rubbish on land off the A17 between Cowbit and Crowland.
