A family home at Long Sutton will feature in Channel 5’s Cowboy Builders & Bodge Jobs after it was turned into a house of horror.

Single mum Mandy Beattie (44), of Midsummer Gardens, brought in builders to replace her bathroom – but says they bodged that job and flooded the house because they didn’t cap a radiator.

Mandy said the builders refused to refund the £1,870 she had paid and she’s had to spend another £2,000 with another builder, who has made a proper job of replacing the bathroom.

But the flood from the radiator means she also needs a new kitchen as well as repairs to her bedroom and the landing.

She says the bathroom was left with faults including:

l The toilet and sink attached to the wall by pieces of wood

l The shower was hanging off the wall

l Tiles didn’t match and weren’t straight

Mandy said: “I am livid. It’s the way they left my house.”

The mum and her daughters, Caitlyn (16) and Jade (14), face more upheaval when the kitchen is replaced as they will have to move out for the best part of a fortnight while the work is done.

Mandy said the builders who wrecked her home declined to give her a refund and her best hope of getting her cash back is if her insurance can claim off the building firm’s public liability insurance, but only if they had that.

The programme on Mandy’s home will air at the end of August.

The firm had bad reviews on a website, including comments “don’t waste your money they are rubbish”, “shocking service very poor job, please don’t use these guys” and “this company is a rip off”.
