CELEBRATIONS to mark the 90th anniversary of the Royal British Legion raised more than £130.

The Sutton Bridge branch of the legion got together to organise some fundraising events at their hall in Gashouse Lane, including a couple of table top sales and a children’s colouring competition.

Vice chairman Peter Guy said: “Branches all over the country are celebrating the legion’s 90th anniversary and we wanted to do our bit.

“Although the colouring competition was not very successful, we managed to raise about £130 altogether, so we are pleased with that.

“The money all goes towards the Poppy Appeal.”

Mr Guy said the branch is always looking for new members, particularly younger ones.

He added: “The Royal British Legion is as important as ever these days, while there are still conflicts happening across the world.”

Anyone who wants to join the branch can contact Mr Guy on 01406 350320.
