A MIDDLE-aged man was killed when he was hit by a lorry on the A16 Spalding bypass at about 9.30am today (Saturday).
And a 21-year-old Whaplode woman died in a three-car crash at New York, near Boston, shortly before 11pm last night.
Police have not yet named the crash victims but are appealing for witnesses.
The A16 crash happened between the Clay Lake junction and the Low Road roundabout. The driver of the Scania lorry, a 31-year-old Boston man, escaped injury.
Emergency services were on the scene for some hours and traffic diversions were set up.
The crash at New York was on the B1192 at 10.50pm and also left three people seriously injured and two with less serious injuries. One of the more seriously hurt casualties, an 18-year-old man from Dogdyke, is in Queen’s Medical Centre at Nottingham with head injuries.
The woman who died was a passenger in a Citroen Saxo and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The man driving that car and a second woman passenger, both from Boston, are two of the more seriously injured casualties.
Other cars involved were a Vauxhall Corsa and Volkswagen Polo. The Polo driver, a 17-year-old from Coningsby, escaped injury.
Emergency services were on the scene for some time and the road was closed until 7.10am today.
