A BOXER dog rescue charity raised £6,200 for its work with a fun day at Holbeach United Football Club on Sunday.
Around 400 owners from across Britain supported the Lincolnshire, Essex and Trent Boxer Rescue event.
Charity founder Dawn Barnes said: “It was an absolutely amazing day and I couldn’t believe how the sun came out.”
The fun dog show was one of the highlights and proud owner Paula Grant, from Long Sutton, lifted the Best Boxer prize with her dog, Diesel.
Dawn founded the charity 25 years ago and it rehomes between 300 and 350 dogs every year.
She said: “I did a rehoming on the day – two litter sisters, who went to a home in Sutton Bridge – and that was the icing on the cake for me.”
Dawn was also thrilled with the support given by Holbeach Scouts, who arrived at 7.30am and worked hard for 11 hours.
She said: “They were absolutely brilliant.”
