Members of the Long Sutton Bowls Club will be able to keep their green in tip top condition thanks to a grant from Lincolnshire Co-op. The Society has donated £735 to the group to buy an aerator.
The long spikes pierce the ground, which helps with drainage and also makes holes for planting new seed. Previously members had been borrowing one from the local cricket club but it was too small and took all day to do the whole green. Now they have their own it takes just an hour and a half. “We’re chuffed to bits with it. It’s certainly helped us out a lot,” said vice president and green keeper Bob Simpson, who is pictured with Chris Judd, Lincolnshire Co-op director Maureen Tranter and Ken King.
