Bourne U3A Table Tennis section celebrated an anniversary in the way its members enjoy spending an afternoon.
Members of the organisation that provides ‘life-enhancing and life-changing’ opportunities were marking their seventh anniversary of residency at Harvey’s Gym in Bourne.
That was done with an informal afternoon of match play against their equivalent group from Oakham.
Group leader John Hayter says: “During three hours of play, nearly 60 games were completed, with the home side shading it in terms of points.
“A well attended event was enjoyed by all and a highly respectable standard of play achieved.”
Mr Hayter went on to say the Bourne Table Tennis group is actively looking for experienced players to join the Tuesday afternoon sessions. He says league experience “in the distant past” would be an advantage, but help would be given to those who haven’t played for a while.
He adds though: “An understanding of the nuances of the game is essential.”
