Bourne retailer North Shoes has scooped its third national industry award in two years.

The family-run business, which also has shops in Stamford and Peterborough, claimed the Independent Men’s Retailer of the Year accolade at the 2015 Footwear Industry Awards.

At least 400 people attended the awards hosted by comedian and star of TV quiz show The Chase, Paul Sinha, at the National Motorcycle Museum near Coventry.

James North, the fifth generation of the North family to run the business, said: “It’s amazing that a small retailer like North Shoes can win a national award, beating off national independent retailers who have a shop in every large city in the country.

“The award celebrates the very best in standards in shoe retail and I’m extremely grateful to all the staff at our three shops for their continued quality service to our customers.”

In 2013, North Shoes was named Independent Family Retailer and Ladies’ Independent Retailer of the Year at the awards.

Cheryl Taylor, editor of Footwear Today Magazine which promoted the awards, said: “These awards recognise excellence at every level and North Shoes are to be congratulated on their achievement in winning the Men’s Independent Retailer of the Year Award 2015.”
