A LONG Sutton youngster’s appetite for reading has been rewarded with success in this year’s Lincolnshire Young People’s Book Awards.

Ellie Griggs (12) won the prize in the nine to 11 age category after choosing Loving Spirit by Linda Chapman as her favourite book.

The youngster is a student at Peele Community College and is a regular at Long Sutton Library where she was presented with a selection of books by Tarina Jones from Lincolnshire County Council.

Lee-Ann Griggs, Ellie’s mum, said: “She was very pleased to have won and I’m very proud of her.

“Ellie is looking forward to reading the books and she’s started one of them already.”

Jo Carling, of Long Sutton Library, said: “Ellie was chuffed to bits when she found out that she’d won.

“She reads a lot and uses the library regularly, so it’s good that the prize went to someone who deserved it.”
