The visit of rock legend Jimi Hendrix to Spalding 48 years ago is to be commemorated on Friday.

Jimi stayed at the Red Lion Hotel following a concert in Spalding Bulb Auction, Barbeque 67, at which, unbelievably Cream, Pink Floyd, Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band and Zoot Money all performed. They were joined by local band Sounds Force Five.

Sounds Force Five members will unveil a blue plaque at the hotel at 2pm – marking 50 years since they first got together.
