IT was a day of celebration and farewells for the congregation at All Saints’ Church in Holbeach on Sunday.

The church marked its harvest festival with a visit from the Bishop of Grantham, the Rt Rev Tim Ellis, and also bid a fond goodbye to organist Barry Lancaster.

The service included the sounds of an instrumental group which plays on the first Sunday of each month.

Children from Junior Church and the Oasis Youth Group sang and played percussion instruments.

The group had also prepared a display in the church on the theme of Harvest of the Sea.

Dr Ellis also praised the church on how many events were continuing to take place, despite the church not having its own vicar at present.

Mr Lancaster and his wife Pam were presented with gifts from both the choir and congregation.
