It was eyes down at a sheltered housing complex in Holbeach to raise cash for two young disabled brothers.

Residents of the Cecil Pywell complex met up at their community centre for a bingo session to boost the total raised for the Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian’s fundraising campaign for Ben and Toby Smith.

The youngsters, who both suffer multiple disabilities, enjoy bathtime but mum Julia was beginning to struggle to lift the pair into the normal family bath.

So we set out to raise £4,000 to buy a special walk-in bath – reaching our total in less than three weeks.

The Cecil Pywell residents were so moved by the Spalding family’s story they decided to hold the “very well supported” bingo session and raffle and raised £273.30.
