THE owner of the Manor House in Crowland will be handed a bill after South Holland District Council made emergency repairs to the 17th Century building to make it safe.

Roof tiles fell into East Street at the weekend and the road was closed for public safety.

A district council spokesman said: “Legal papers have been issued to the owner of the property.”

He said the council has a legal duty to ensure all buildings are made safe and all costs will be passed to the owner. According to Lincolnshire County Council, East Street was due to reopen shortly before 4pm yesterday.
