Staff at the Spalding Wilkinson store hit the saddle recently and raised more than £570 for the store’s official charity partner, the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association, by taking part in a ‘virtual’ bike ride.

Thirty members of staff participated in a sponsored indoor bike ride, by cycling 90 miles between them – which is equivalent to Skegness and back – on an exercise bike on the shop floor.

Store manage Lloyd Nicholls said: “We thought the ‘pedalathon’ would be a fun way to raise much needed funds for such a worthwhile charity and despite a few aching muscles, the cycle was certainly a very rewarding event.

“The bike ride is just one of the events we have organised and we can’t wait to raise even more money for the MND Association, which we nominated as our regional charity of the year.”
