A SPALDING couple are taking on the challenge of a lifetime to raise money for a children’s charity.
Garry and Paula Baker, of Percheron Drive, will be putting on their walking shoes and tackling the 87 miles of Hadrian’s Wall to collect cash for The National Holiday Fund.
The couple hope to raise around £3,000 for the cause which arranges holidays to Florida for sick or disabled children.
Garry (49), who is a painter and decorator, and Paula (42), a history teacher at the Gleed Girls’ Technology College in Spalding, decided to take on the challenge after chatting with some friends.
Garry said: “Some of our friends are involved with the charity and one night we were saying how much we wanted to walk Hadrian’s Wall and they said ‘why don’t you do it for charity?’
“It’s 87 miles and we are expecting it to take us four or five days. We will be sleeping in tents along the way.”
The couple have begun training for the trek, which starts on July 25, by walking four miles every other day.
