Ex-Spalding student Ingrid Carolini is officially one of the most gorgeous girls in Cambridgeshire after stunning judges at a top beauty pageant.

Art and design student Ingrid (21), who went to Gleed Girls Technology College between 2003 and 2009, excelled at her first-ever beauty contest – Miss Cambridgeshire 2015 – coming third out of 17 finalists.

Ingrid, now studying at Peterborough Regional College, said: “I didn’t know what to expect so I decided to take it step-by step and enjoy it.

“It all went so quickly and it surprised me how well we all connected as if we had known each other for a while.

“I don’t how I kept so calm and I was telling some of the other girls to relax, along with one of the backstage people who was getting nervous.”

Ingrid had to go through seven gruelling rounds at the finals, held at Anstey Hall in Cambridge, where the beauty queen was supported by her mum, brother and a friend.

After taking to the catwalk in evening wear, black dress and a dress made out of old, borrowed or recycled clothes, Ingrid was named second runner-up behind last year’s Miss Hertfordshire, Charlotte White (23) and eventual winner Amber Twell (17), a sixth-form student from Ely.

Ingrid said: “They were all really nice girls and we still keep in touch.

“In fact, we’re organising a reunion in Cambridge where we’re all going to have a laugh.

“Our mentors were Miss England 2013, Kirsty Heslewood and last year’s Miss Cambridgeshire and Miss England, Carina Tyrrell, who were both absolutely lovely and really supportive.

“For my first time and up against such experienced girls, I was shocked to come in the top three because I used to get very anxious in situations where I didn’t know what was going to happen.

“My mum was so proud of me and she had the biggest grin on her face when they announced the top three.”

Ingrid is hoping to study for a degree in footwear design at DeMontfort University, Leicester, while fitting in her modelling work with photoshoots across the UK.

“I’m currently focusing on my studies but I can still enter Miss Cambridgeshire next year and now that I’ve had a little taste of it, it’s motivated me to carry on,” Ingrid said.

“I’m definitely more confident, I can talk in front of a large group of people without stuttering and I can hold my own.”
