Staff at Barclays in Spalding yesterday showed they wouldn’t be beaten – in spite of the water leak that closed the branch on Thursday.

They moved outside into Hall Place on Monday to help customers and direct them to other local branches in the area.

A Barclays spokesperson said: “We are sorry we had to close our Spalding branch last Thursday. This was due to a burst water pipe at our branch that has caused ceiling damage and flooding issues. We have contractors on site and we will re-open the branch as soon as possible.

“In the meantime, our staff are outside the branch and will be happy to help anyone who needs support with their banking needs or customers can use one of our other local branches at Long Sutton, Bourne or Market Deeping.”
