A PRESENTATION of trophies followed the annual meeting of Holbeach Town Band, which celebrated its 40th anniversary this year.

Band president Coun Terry Harrington commented on the progress made and his pleasure at seeing so many young people joining the band and involved in their community.

A cheque for £1,016 was presented on behalf of Les Ward from his fundraising efforts during the year, and band members heard that councillors Rita Rudkin and Martin Howard had each awarded the band £500 from their designated councillor budgets.

Trophies were presented by musical director Mel Hopkin to Yvonne Butter for her work in maintaining the band’s library of music; Les Hill, for best progress in the training band; and Steven Butter, who received The Cecil Cook Shield, a trophy awarded as a result of band members’ nominations.
