The Lincolnshire Landscape is the result of more than six years’ work by its author, Jon Fox.
The book traces the fascinating story of the origin and evolution of Fenland over millennia.
He also looks at the buildings that remain, from its churches, some of which he says “rank amongst the finest in the country”, to the erosion of much vernacular architecture.
The author says some traditional farmhouse and cottage buildings in brick and pantile can still be found, though earlier cottages in turf or mud stud have vanished and even thatch is rare.
The Lincolnshire Landscape – An Exploration is published by Green Plover Books. It contains over 240 photographs and costs £24.95
