THE road safety camera which nets an average of £21,000 in fines per month is out of action after an arson attack.
Last month we reported how the camera on the A151 at Whaplode is Lincolnshire’s second top “earner” by generating more than £214,000 in ten months after the speed limit on the road dropped from 40mph to 30mph.
John Siddle, communications manager for Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership, said: “The police are currently investigating.
“In the meantime we will do everything we can to get it working again as soon as possible.
“The community needs the protection of that camera until the speed of traffic along the A151 drops.”
