FOR the first time veterans included the end of the Falklands conflict 30 years ago in their remembrances for the annual VJ parade at Ayscoughfee Gardens on Sunday.

Representatives and standard bearers from all three armed services stood to attention in blazing sunshine to be inspected by South Holland District Council chairman Mick Seymour.

Crowds of supporters were swelled by visitors to the South Holland Food Festival to more than 100 strong for the annual service held to mark the anniversary of victory over Japan which finally ended WW2.

Royal Lincolnshire and Royal Anglian Regimental Association chairman Ken Willows said: “Second world war veterans in their 90s were present, along with others from Korea and Malaya.”
