DONINGTON is expecting East Midlands in Bloom judges a day later than Spalding, on Tuesday.
Its In Bloom committee, boosted by winning Community Group of the Year in the county’s Good Citizens Awards last week, is asking villagers to please clean up the area in front of each of their homes.
Fliers requesting householders on the judges’ route to tidy pavements, gutters and frontages have gone through everyone’s doors in a bid to repeat last year’s success when Donington took Gold in the large village category.
Committee members are all pressed into action, weeding the market place, clearing the churchyard and even cleaning up village signs.
Chairman Liz Walker said: “We need as much help as we can get because everything has to be immaculate, or we’ll lose points.
“Please everyone, give us a hand! Tuesday isn’t the end for Donington either, as we have Britain in Bloom judges coming on August 8 and will have to go through it all again then.”
