A Spalding man appeared at Lincoln Crown Court today (Tuesday) charged with causing the death of a motorcyclist by dangerous driving on the A16 near Crowland.

Edvinas Maciulevicius (25) is accused of causing the death of motorbike rider Marcel Banom following a collision on March 12.

Mr Banom (37) had an address in Peak Hill, Cowbit, at the time of his death.

Maciulevicius, of Piccard Drive, is also charged with driving a VW Passat that was not insured.

Speaking through an interpreter, Maciulevicius spoke only to confirm his name.

Members of Mr Banom’s family were in the public gallery to watch the five minute hearing.

No pleas were entered and Judge John Pini QC adjourned the case for a plea and case management hearing at Lincoln Crown Court on December 17.

Maciulevicius was granted unconditional bail until his next court appearance.

Judge Pini told him: “You will be here for the plea and case management hearing on December 17.”
