A17 closed after accident at Sutton Bridge

IT has been confirmed that none of those injured in the accident on the A17 on Thursday evening suffered life-threatening injuries.

The accident happened at 6.10pm around one mile from Sutton Bridge, heading towards King’s Lynn.

Fire crews had to cut the driver of the Volvo lorry free, while one of the car drivers and a five-year-old child were also injured.

The five-year-old is understood to have a broken wrist, while one of the car drivers had seat belt burns.

Thursday, 10pm: THE A17 was closed this evening at the county border in Sutton Bridge after a three-vehicle collision. A Volvo HGV lorry, Ford S-Max car and a Peugeot RCZ were involved in the accident at 6.10pm.

Firefighters from Holbeach, Long Sutton and King’s Lynn attended the scene and used hydraulic cutting equipment to rescue three people from the vehicles and they also made two cars safe.

The road is still closed from Walpole Cross Keys to Sutton Bridge and diversions are in place.
