The headteacher of a village primary school is "delighted" with the results of its latest OFSTED inspection.
Quadring Cowley and Brown's Primary School came under the spotlight during an inspection in March and although some areas were highlighted as having room for improvement headteacher Nicki Wilkinson says these are already being addressed.

The report said Mrs Wilkinson has successfully guided the school through an unsettled period of staffing difficulties and she remains resolutely determined to bring about improvement.

However, leadership skills of newly appointed staff are not yet fully developed and the governors lack clarity in their roles and responsibilities.

The report says pupils' behaviour is outstanding, they work hard and play well together. They greatly enjoy going to school and attendance rates are above average.

Standards in reading, writing and maths are considered average, while English and maths in year six are above average.

The quality of teaching and learning is satisfactory overall, with some that is good, particularly for the oldest and youngest children.

Mrs Wilkinson has been acting headteacher at the school since January last year and was appointed headteacher just before the inspection in March.

She said: "We are delighted that the inspection recognised our many strengths.

"There is always room for improvement at any school and we already have procedures in place for those areas highlighted by the inspector.

"We really put a big emphasis on valuing the pupils and their opinions and feel one of the reasons they enjoy coming to school is because they feel happy, safe and secure here."
