AROUND 20 new jobs will be created when The 90p Store opens in the Spalding's former Woolworths shop.
The discount chain, which has shops in Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire, has chosen Spalding as the place to open its first Lincolnshire-based store and will be creating around 20 jobs, some full time and some part time.
The store will sell a wide ra
nge of goods including herbs and spices, confectionery, DIY, household care, partyware, stationery, gardening equipment, arts and crafts ranges, toys and first aid supplies - and everything costs just 90 pence.
The shop in Bridge Street has stood empty since the Woolworths chain went in administration in December.
The store closed at the beginning of January, ending more than 70 years of service to Spalding shoppers and leaving 18 people out of work.
The 90p Store opens its doors to customers on Saturday and manager Keith Howden says people won't be disappointed.
He said: "We sell a wide range of goods but people shouldn't let the price deceive them – everything we sell is great quality.
"Woolworths closing left a big gap at that end of the town and we are confident we can fill that."
