Jasper the parrot has been returned to his owner safe and well.
On Thursday our sister paper the Spalding Guardian reported that John Grimwood's shed in Holbeach had been broken into overnight on July 13 and thieves had taken the 24-year-old African Grey from his cage.

But on Friday morning, four days after he had gone, Jasper was seen strutting around a patch of land near William Stukeley Primary School.

And an anonymous woman who had read the article somehow managed to catch the bird and brought him into Holbeach Police Station from where his owner came to pick him up.

Mr Grimwood, of Farrow Avenue, said: "There was no way he could have got out of the cage on his own so he must have managed to escape from whoever took him.

"I would like to thank both the newspaper and the person who found him."
