A charity gala which has been held for 50 years in the grounds of Hovenden House will not be moving.
An announcement made by Friends of Hovenden Gala in January that the event would be held at Holbeach Community Centre was jumping the gun, according to the Leonard Cheshire home at Fleet.

It will go ahead as usual at the home on Sunday, July 6, after running of the event was taken over by the home itself.

Hovenden House fundraiser Rachel Wadley said: "They jumped the gun before all the decisions had taken place.

"The residents wanted it to remain at Hovenden House and our first priority is the residents and their needs."

The event kicks off at 12.30pm and features the Royal Anglian Military Band and Spalding Ambassadors along with displays by birds of prey and Gordon Boswell, of the Romany Museum in Spalding, who will be setting up a Romany encampment for the day.

There will be a hog roast, children's face painting and balloon sculptures along with vintage bicycles and classic cars on show.

The event is preceded on Friday, July 4, by an ice and fire walk, where brave souls have the opportunity to show their mettle by walking on broken glass and hot coals.
