Council tax cap approved

Parliament this evening passed an order that confirmed Lincolnshire Police Authority will see its council tax precept capped.
The House of Commons voted in favour of capping the Lincolnshire Police precept down from a 78.9 per cent hike to 26 per cent increase by 277 votes to 45.

In a debate South Holland and the Deepings MP John Hayes spoke of the level of support against the tax rises that was shown by readers of the Lincolnshire Free Press.

At his request the police minister will meet with the county's police authority to discuss future funding.
