The sporting achievements of students at Spalding Grammar School were recognised with the return of the colours system.
Pupils who have shown outstanding commitment to one or more sports received honours in front of 300 guests at a ceremony on Thursday evening.

Students who achieved half colours for committing to two or more activities for part or all of a key stage or exceptional contribution in one activity for a whole key stage were given a badge to wear as part of their school uniform.

Those awarded full colours for outstanding commitment to at least one activity throughout a key stage were given a special tie to signify their achievement.

Special prizes were also presented to the top cricketers, footballers and hockey and rugby players at the school.

Sporting honours are usually presented at the school's speech day towards the end of the autumn term but head of house and PE staff member Matt Skinner hopes it can become a regular fixture.

He said: "The ceremony was a re-launch of the school's colours system, which has been lost over the last few years.

"We are aiming this at being an annual event and I would like to see it become even bigger next year."
