THERE are just 27 days before the Olympic flame winding its way around the UK arrives in Spalding.
Local heroes will carry the flame through south Lincolnshire on Wednesday, July 4, starting in Market Deeping and going through Thurlby, Bourne, Spalding, Moulton, Holbeach, Whaplode and Long Sutton.
Lincolnshire County Council is encouraging residents to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime celebration and line the streets to welcome the torch.
However, drivers are being warned of significant disruption on the roads.
Mike Nicholls, highways network manager, said: “Businesses, schools, transport and many other services across the county will be affected.
“A full list of road closures, facts and details of local events will be found on your district council’s website before the event.
“This will help you plan your day in advance, so you can avoid lengthy delays. However, some disruption is inevitable, so please allow extra time for your journeys.”
Details of local torch relay events will feature in the Spalding Guardian on Thursday, June 28. If you would like your celebrations included, email email@example.com
