10,000 more out of work

LATEST unemployment figures show 10,000 more out of work across the East Midlands in the last quarter.

The figures, which include Spalding, reflect 8.3 per cent of the population, which is 193,000 people.

This in line with national data that shows the number of people claiming job seekers’ allowance jumped by 6,100 last month to 1.6 million, including 724,000 16 to 24-year-olds.
