Pinchbeck Remembrance service

Poems written by children at Pinchbeck East CofE Primary School were read during the village’s Remembrance Day service at the war memorial.

The whole school gathered for the service, but prior to the day, Year 6 children studied the origins of Remembrance Day and created poems in honour of those who have died for their country in the First World War and all wars since.

A selection of these poems were read by the children at the service and all of the Year 6 pupils recited In Flanders Fields, by John McCrae. With help from Mr and Mrs Seymour, from the British Legion, the children learned about the significance of the poppy and helped create a wreath of yellow chrysanthemums with Mrs Helen Banks.
