A Spalding naval veteran aged 85 is taking on a new challenge in life.

Shipmate Geoff Buck, a member of Spalding Royal Naval Association, has just received his introduction to the world of information technology – an iPad.

Spalding branch honorary secretary Terry Day (left) is pictured above issuing the iPad to Geoff, along with the first part of his ongoing support and training.

The iPad and training has been delivered as a result of funding secured by The Royal Naval Association from the Aged Veterans Fund for Project Semaphore.

The aim of the project, says Terry, is to reach out to Royal Naval Association veterans who are “computer isolated” and who are over the age of 65.

He said benefits to veterans include access to social media, contact with family and friends, the ability to shop online, access veterans’ information and much more.

Geoff Buck, the branch treasurer, applied to be a candidate and was selected to receive the iPad and training.
