Tulip Radio round-up: Well done to guides

editorial image

Last week we were visited by the 1st Pinchbeck Guides accompanied by their parents and leaders who came to celebrate the achievements of three of their young guides. The three of them, Sophie, Esther and Faith (pictured) had all achieved the ultimate guides award, the Baden Powell Challenge Award, and we were asked to host the presentation of their medals.

We gave them all a quick tour of our studios and they watched a little of Elizabeth Padgett presenting her folk show live as well as learning a little of how some of our music systems work.

We interviewed them for a future podcast and they explained some of the tasks and events they had been to in order to gain their challenge award. The guides, of which there are many troops in South Lincolnshire, were founded by Lady Baden Powell in 1909 and it is now the UK’s largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women.

The girls explained that since they were now 14 years old, they now were too old for Girl Guides but were now looking forward to becoming part of the senior section of the Guiding movement, they also thanked their leaders, Jane and Bridget, for everything they had done.

It was lovely to have the girls, their parents and leaders visiting us here at Tulip Radio, it gave them ideas for the future for shows about guiding.

Listen to the girls on the podcast section on our website, www.tulip-radio.co.uk.
