TULIP RADIO BROADCAST: Step Into Christmas

Most shops in and around Spalding have started to deck their premises with seasonal decorations. This year the town will be graced with a completely new set of Christmas lights.

Since July here at Tulip Radio, Jan has been organising the Christmas light switch on, on behalf of the Spalding and District Chamber of Commerce. This has involved cajoling all our local schools to produce a choir for the annual Schools’ Choir Competition which was won last year by St Johns School on Hawthorn Bank. A good turnout is expected.
The switch on is now an all-day event centred upon Hall Place and a stage will be installed there for the musical performances.
The day begins with a performance from Spalding Folk Club followed by Diamondz Dance, Meg McPartlin, the South Holland Singers and Kirton Brass Band, plus Spalding Brass.
There will also be street entertainment.
Singers from SADOS will entertain crowds during the afternoon, as well as Morris Dancers. For those who have a cuddly canine, a dog show is taking place.
The actual switch on will take place at the end of the stage, proceeding when Santa will take a break from his preparations in Lapland and with the help of the Spalding Flower Queen, Amy Harrison, will switch on the brand new Spalding Christmas Lights.
