New film-making project wants you!

A NEW FILMMAKING project will give people who are young - or young at heart – a chance to pick up new skills.

The Local Hero project aims to see what would happen if people from the older generation (over 50s) worked with younger people (under 25s) on making a film together in three of South Holland's local communities.

The South Holland Centre, working in partnership with professional film makers from Broadway Cinema and Media Centre Nottingham are offering the opportunity to three mixed-aged community groups.

They will learn some film-making skills and then make their own short films and have them screened around the district.

Each group should be between ten to 15 people, with a fairly even split between people aged over 50 and between 12 and 25.

The resulting short films will be screened within the communities involved and also at the South Holland Centre cinema for other local residents.

The project will take place in four phases during 2010 and early 2011, starting this August.

To take part, groups need to do is complete an expression of Interest form by March 31.

They will then be selected on the basis of their ability to fully commit to the Project and to represent different parts of South Holland.

The forms are available from the South Holland Centre or www.southhollandcentre.co.uk.
