RADICAL Manchester-based comedian and poet Matt Panesh presents a show of two halves at the South Holland Centre on Wednesday entitled A Pie, A Pint and A Poet in the bar.

The first half, “Welcome! - to Afghanistan” is a hard-hitting account, funny and macabre, of Britain’s first entanglement with Afghanistan in the 1840s.

The second half, “Welcome! - to the UK” is a set of satirical stand-up comedy poetry that questions national identity and what it means to be British nowadays. Not for the faint hearted or dainty eared, there is an age guideline of 16+ for strong language.

On Thursday, February 9, the National Theatre Live returns to the Centre, direct from the London stage, with Nicholas Wright’s Travelling Light. A funny and fascinating tribute to the Eastern European immigrants who became major players in Hollywood’s golden age.
