Fast-moving farce

BOURNE Footlights have chosen 'There Goes The Bride' by Ray Cooney and John Chapman for their eighth charity production.

This fast-moving farce, directed by Maureen Berkes, will be performed at Bourne Corn Exchange on Wednesday (July 1), Thursday and Friday at 7.30pm.

When harassed advertising executive Timothy Westerby hits his head on the morning of his daughter’s society wedding, he awakes to find himself in the company of Polly Perkins, a 1920’s Flapper girl straight out of his current advertising campaign.

It soon becomes all too clear that no-one else can see or hear her and when another bump on the head transports Timothy back to 1926 and the Savoy Hotel, the wedding preparations disintegrate into chaos.

Tickets (8.50) include a Ploughmans Supper and are available from Deeping Travel, Bourne on 01778 423224.

The Society is supporting Thorpe Hall Hospice, L.I.V.E.S and Bourne Abbey School drama department.

Anyone wishing to sponsor a table at 20 for the three nights should contact Lynda Lock on 01778 393245.
