RISE OF THE GUARDIANS (PG)

With animations being thrown into cinemas like confetti this could well be the first new franchise – outside of the Pixar movies – to reignite the genre once again.

This epic adventure (also available in 3D) looks like it could show some sorely needed innovation as Jack Frost (Chris Pine) is hand-picked to join a team headed by the most famous fairy tale icon of all, Santa Claus (Alec Baldwin).

The immortal team – which also consists of The Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman), Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher) and Sandman – must combine their powers to take on the evil spirit of boogeyman Pitch (Jude Law), who is up to some dastardly world-conquering trickery.
