Chance to quiz gardening experts

GARDENING enthusiasts will be excited to hear that Gardeners’ Question Time is coming to Spalding next week.

The team from the BBC Radio 4 show will be recording a programme with Springfields Horticultural Society at Springfields Events Centre on Monday.

Eric Robson and his panel of experts, Bunny Guinness, Matthew Wilson and Christine Walkden, will be tackling the questions put to them by Spalding gardening enthusiasts.

Gardeners’ Question Time is a Radio 4 institution, attracting more than two million listeners a week.

Recorded in a different location each week, this long-standing radio programme has answered well over 30,000 questions since its inception in 1947.

The panel members have been guests of a diverse range of gardening clubs and other organisations, including a telecommunications call centre and the London Transport Museum.

Entry is by ticket only and these are available by calling 01775 724843 and cost £2 each, to include coffee/tea amd biscuits.

Tickets need to be collected in advance from the Springfields Horticultural Society office in Camelgate, Spalding, so the audience has a chance to write out any questions they want to submit to the panel. Questions are then “drawn out of the hat” on the evening and those selected will be put to the panel by the ticket holder.

The panel never sees the questions before the recording. Their answers are completely spontaneous and reveal their huge experience and depth of gardening knowledge.

Guests should arrive between 5pm and 6pm for refreshments, and the recording starts at 6.30pm and lasts an hour. This is a great opportunity to see how this show is recorded and possibly to get your gardening question answered by one of the experts.
