Calling the Tune with Tulip Radio

We would like to thank everyone within the community who helped make the Christmas Light Switch-On such a great success.

For many the highlight was the choir competition and it was wonderful to see so many local schools taking part. Thanks to the teachers for the hours put in to teach the pupils their lines and movements as well as their parents and families coming along to support.

Thanks to the judges, Coun Michael Seymour and his wife, Pauline and also Adrian Jansen of Lingarden Bulbs who braved the very chilly weather and managed to find a winner, Moulton Chapel Primary School. All the school children were winners and entertained the community with their happy smiling faces.

Without the generosity of sponsors, such events are hard to run and Broadgate Homes most generously gave every pupil a chocolate advent calendar.

Food for Thought kindly provided the choirs with a school meal before the event so they all sang on a full tummy.

The winning school will also be receiving a canvas picture portrait of the choir, kindly donated by the Linconshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian.

Other sponsors, the NFU and Spalding Energy, also deserve mentions for the supply of goodies for the bags each contestant took home and at the end of it all, Santa and the Flower Queen, with help from the Olympic Torch bearers, came and switched the brand new lights on.

The finale was a firework display courtesy of the Punchbowl which was a fitting end to a wonderful day.
